Emulsified asphalt finds extensive application in eco-friendly road materials, offering significant advantages primarily in energy conservation, environmental protection, construction convenience, multifunctional applications, and material recycling.

Energy Conservation and Environmental Protection: The production process of emulsified asphalt occurs under sealed conditions, involving low heating temperatures, short processing times, and minimal pollution. This eliminates high-temperature heating operations and the emission of harmful substances. Compared to diluted asphalt, emulsified asphalt contains significantly reduced amounts of kerosene or gasoline, conserving fuel resources and reducing process energy consumption.

Construction Convenience: Emulsified asphalt can be directly mixed with aggregates at ambient temperatures or applied via spraying, simplifying construction and improving working conditions. For small-scale applications like pothole repairs or crack sealing, manual application is feasible without complex equipment. It also works with cold or damp aggregates, unaffected by dampness or low temperatures, enabling timely maintenance repairs upon detecting pavement defects.

Versatile Applications:

Slurry Seal: Emulsified asphalt mixed with fine aggregate, water, and filler forms a slurry that, when applied, creates a wearing course. This repairs ruts and cracks, delays pavement aging, and enhances skid resistance, abrasion resistance, waterproofing, and durability.

Stone Chip Seal: Emulsified asphalt serves as a binder on the road surface, with uniformly graded aggregate spread over it to form a flexible, wear-resistant surface treatment layer. This effectively increases adhesion, abrasion resistance, and the pavement's crack resistance.

Micro-surfacing: The most advanced form of slurry seal using modified emulsified asphalt, suitable for preventive maintenance on major highways. It improves skid resistance, prevents water penetration, and inhibits pavement aging and disintegration.

Penetrating Seal Coat and Bonding Seal Coat: Emulsified asphalt can serve as a penetrating seal coat, permeating the base course to enhance adhesion between the base and surface layers. It can also function as a bonding seal coat, strengthening interlayer adhesion and preventing interlayer slippage.
